How to make your pen drive a bootable device....?

To Make a USB Flash Drive bootable, your motherboard must support USB boot feature. And also this guidelines will not work with Windows XP, this will support only Windows Vista & Windows 7 Operating Systems.

To do this you must run the command prompt as administrator.

1.  Go to Start menu & type CMD on the search box, and then press ctrl+shift+return. then click "run as administrator". Then you will see the command prompt with
 "Administrator" label.

.
2. Type the command DISKPART. Then type LIST DISK.

3.  Then you can see the devices that are currently in your computer. In my Computer, Disk 0 is the Hard Disk & Disk 1 is the USB Flash Drive. Now Select the device that you are going to install. Type SELECT DISK 1 to select the device.

4. Then type CLEAN.

5.  Now type CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY to create a partition on your pen drive.

6.  Then type SELECT PARTITION 1 to select the partition that you created.

7. Type ACTIVE to set the selected partition as active partition.

8.  Then type FORMAT FS=NTFS to format the partition using NTFS File System.

This may take several minutes to complete.

9.  Once you get the message "Diskpart successfully formatted the volume" type
ASSIGN & then type EXIT to exit the partition. But do not close the command prompt.

10. Insert your Windows Bootable CD/DVD into your Optical Disk Drive(DVD Drive) if you have not done so far. Now go to my Computer & recognize the Drive Letter of your CD Drive & USB Flash Drive. In my Computer, I have H: for Optical Disk Drive & J: for Pen Drive.

11. Now go back to command prompt and type H: CD BOOT . Please be carefull about the letter H:. Then type CD BOOT to go to BOOT directory on your CD.

12. Now type BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 J:. Actually here only you create the device bootable. If done correctly, you will see the following message.

13. Now close the command prompt & copy all the files to Pen Drive which are in Windows CD/DVD.

That's it......! Now enjoy your bootable Pen Drive.....!!!

-->> To boot from USB change your BIOS boot order sequence as USB is before the Hard Disk. The way of changing this may varie from Motherboard to Motherboard.
